Detail the Action Plan and Commit to Its Implementation
Once you have presented the Rumble's Quest results and shared your summary of possible actions that could be undertaken to address some of the most pressing issues arising from the data, the next step is to enlist everyone's support to flesh out the action plan. It's time to expand and clarify the details in a way that makes explicit everyone's role in getting the work done.
Think about how best to inspire everyone's involvement and enthusiasm. Contributing to the process of setting out the specific details of the plan helps everyone feel clearer about the way forward: Identify WHO will do WHAT, by WHEN, and HOW the effects of the action will be shown.
Transfer the issues and action items from the Data Enquiry Record Sheet that you set out earlier to the first columns of an Action Plan (downloadable template). Then complete the remaining columns as you map out a full plan that specifies: (i) for each issue; and (ii) associated action item; (iii) the people who will take responsibility for conducting it; (iv) what resources or support they will need to do so; (v) the timeframe within which the action will be undertaken; (vi) to what end (i.e., what is the expected outcome); (vii) how the effect of the action will be measured, and last but not least, how will information about the impact of each action, and of the overall plan, be communicated - and celebrated!
Action Plan
The detailed action plan serves as a roadmap that provides everyone with clear direction and establishes shared accountability for the outcomes. It also provides the process for supporting each other to follow through on the agreed actions while retaining everyone's focus on achieving the goal.
